Help with adult acne?

I'm 26 and have been dealing with adult acne since I was 22, It seems as if I get new breakouts everyday, and when I'm not broken out, I have horrible scars around my chin. Does any other adult have this problem too?Help with adult acne?
I would use the Neutrogena Wave once or twice a day (in the morning + at night)

Or St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Even...Neutrogena Skin ID

I'm only 16, but I've started applying baking soda (yes, baking soda), to my face twice a day, once in the morning, once at night. It's only been about two weeks and I've cleared up so much that people have been complimenting my skin. Basically, it is cheap and effective. About 1 dollar for a container of arm and hammer baking soda and it will last a long time.

Just take about a teaspoon of baking soda and mix it with water to form a paste. Rub it gently on to your face and leave it on for about 5 minutes. The only cons are that it will sting a bit and might leave your face dry, so you might want to use an oil free moisturizer afterwards.

..........Adult Acne?

Ugh.

I'm so sick of having acne!

I'm 21 and I've had acne since I was like 13.

Does anyone know what causes adult acne and what is the best way to get rid of it?

I just went on Yaz which has helped before but I can't really get rid of it completely...........Adult Acne?
My sis also have been in the same situation as you for much more time, now she is completely free from acne :) She had tried lots of medications n over the counter products but none of them seemed to have really work, then she opted for herbaceous remedies which was one of the best things she did...........Adult Acne?
21? You're still young! I just turned 40 and still dealing with it. Nothing seems to clear it up for me, some medication only helps a little. My cause I'm sure is stress related, which causes so many types of problems. Good luck!
Try making an appointment with a dermatologist. They will run some tests on you to determine what is causing your acne. The causes are different for everyone.

Hi! I have adult acne too, so I can appreciate how you feel. I never had it as a teenager, but in my 20s started getting spots mostly around my mouth and chin (typical adult acne locations). I tried the 'teenage' skincare products which didn't help (they are too strong for adult skin, and are designed for teenage, hormonal acne - though at 21 you are still young), tried clinique 3-step, which made it a little worse, and finally saw a dermatologist. I thought that would be the answer to my problems, but the creams she gave me were really strong and my face literally hurt. It peeled, turned red, and I started getting wrinkles! My face has never been the same since, even though I stopped using the creams (Duac and Differin) after a couple of months. They really aged my skin, and I now have visible pores.

Since then I've been researching it on the internet and it seems the best products to use are a gentle salicylic acid wash, and then 2.5% benzoyl peroxide on the affected areas - both available cheaply in drugstores. All skin benefits from moisturizer, use an oil-free one, I love Aveeno Ultra Calming with SPF 15. For night time I like Oil of Olay Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish. See the website http://www.acne.org for some great tips and bulletin chat boards to see what other people advise, another good one is http://www.healthboards.com/boards/forum鈥?/a> Make sure anything you use is labelled ';non-comedogenic'; - ie doesn't clog pores - and oil-free (I know, ';Oil'; of Olay right? They do make oil-free stuff too!).

You need to be really gentle with your skin, only washing it twice a day, gently, and don't touch your face during the day. Some people find a deep cleansing face mask is good once or twice a week. Try a clay one with kaolin to draw out dirt and impurities. Also I like St Ives Gentle Hydroxy Peel. Make sure you drink lots of water and take a multi-vitamin every day. Stress is a major cause of acne, so try to minimise this (easier said than done I know!) Also if you are on hormonal birth control this can cause acne - there are contraceptive pills that can help with acne too. Personally I find oranges/orange juice makes me break out... but that might just be me! Also if you wear make-up - make sure its oil-free, and keep your make-up brushes clean - buy new ones and wash them in shampoo at least once every couple of weeks. (This made a big difference for me in the amount of break-outs I got). Try using mineral make-up (I like http://www.everydayminerals.com), much healthier for skin.

If you want to try a kit which is cheaper, and works just as well, as pro-active, I really like Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne kit (contains a salicylic acid wash, benzoyl peroxide to use at night, and sunscreen to use during the day), or L'Oreal Adult Acne system, also L'Oreal do an Adult Acne Peel to help with past acne marks, to use twice a week.

Take care of your skin now before it gets worse and you get scars. Oh, and try not to pop a spot, no matter how tempting, it leaves a mark that takes forever to fade.. or may cause a permanent scar.

And remember you are your own worst critic - next time you scrutinise your spots up close in the mirror, remember most other people don't see you so close. Stand a reasonable distance away from the mirror and that's what people see - not so bad now is it?! Oh and mineral make-up really helps, most people find their skin is much better after wearing it, much healthier than thick foundation. And trust me, it really covers those spots!

Good Luck!
Clearasil makes an adult formula that I like for occasional blemishes. Other than that - plain old Neutrogena bar soap is great. I'm 51, and I REGULARLY get mistaken for somebody in my early 30s (still amazes me, but it happens a lot - so I must be doing SOMETHING right).
wash daily with hot water and vinegar, it will clear it up and then do it every so often to keep it clear.

Whats the best way to naturally clear up adult acne on a african american woman with combination skin? I have breakouts and dark circles, and acne scars. PLEASE HELP!!!Adult acne?
I suggest you to go for natural one; others definitely have side effects. A good face pack of neem leaves with a pinch of turmeric is very good for acne prone skin. More home remedies available at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.htmlAdult acne?
Salt water and sunshine with a mixture of vitamin C
Try the Clearskin products from Avon.
I like Arbonne products.

I am 32 and I've been dealing with acne for about 14 years. I'm so glad that I'm a woman so I can wear makeup to cover it. It's mostly on my chin. It's like I can never have a day where I don't have at least one zit on my face. How frustrating. I used to take Tetracycline and that helped. Differin never helped but being on the pill did. Right now I'm trying to get pregnant so I don't want to be on anything. What has helped you? Medications or other things? Thanks!Adult Acne?
First of all, no one has flawless skin. Some people have it better than others, but thats just genes and stuff. Go to www.freewebs .com/reelbeauty11 for skin and beauty tips. I know its for young girls, but it works for anyone!

I know some people who have tried ProActive and it worked, but I also know some others who have tried it and it made it worse :( I know some who have put rubbing alchol on their skin or peroxcide to dry up the pimples. It also kills bacteria :) . Also, try going to a dermotoligist, or ask your regular doctor. Often times the regular doctor, who knows more about your med. history and whatnot can help you more than a dermatologist.

are you a vegetarian? That might have something to do with it. Its worth checking into.

Try dabbing toothpaste or honey on your zits before you go to bed - works wonders.

Overall, remember that beauty counts more on the inside than on the outside, and your true friends will love you for you, and not your skin.

Oh, and try a different kind of foundation, if you wear it. Try to use a kind with lots of water in it. It looks great and doesn't clog pores half as bad. And check your habits - do you prop your chin up a lot with your hands? That might cause the acne as well. Look for the cause, as well as the cure.Adult Acne?
Benza Cline help me my face went from very bad to ok
a lot of times its food related. try a soy based powdered nutrient. I had it bad and a lot of that cleared after a few weeks. still need to sort out what youre eating too. a fast with soup and other liquids will help keep you nourished and allow you to weed out what foods will affect a breakout.
any skin care products with mineral oil in it will clog you pores more. If your trying to get pregnant like I am stay off the meds try topicals Arbonne has a great line call clear advantage.in the sources i'll put a link to some before and after pics

if you need more if just im or email me. good luck!!
toothpaste over the pimple. make sure its paste not gel. leave it on overnight and wash off in the morning
It is believed that adult acne is caused by the overproduction of hormones in the body, which is why most treatments focus on lowering the level of hormones. Adult acne is usually treated with drugs under the supervision of a professional dermatologist. From my personal experience I can recommend a simpler treatment that is, believe it or not, just as effective.

I heartily recommend The ClearPores System to fight your adult acne both from outside and INSIDE, with its herbal blend.

You can visit the official site for more info: http://www.clearpores.com/clicks/clickth鈥?/a>

Adult acne is not as infrequent as people like to think, but that does not mean that it has to be allowed to become a social drawback. If you suffer from adult acne, then you should see your doctor or simply give the ClearPores System a try. You鈥檇 be surprised how many adults got rid of their acne using the excellent ClearPores. Whatever the choice, you have my best wishes.

About acne developing in adults..?

Hey everyone.. my name is Amanda... and I'm 19 years old. All my life I have had clear skin... like virtually...

Then about two months ago.. my skin gradually started to break out... like more that your average little blemish here or there... I don't understand it because I never had to worry about my skin before.. it's starting to make me feel really self concious (sp? sryy.. I can't spell for my life. lol) and not to sound weird.. but I think it's actually making me depressed..

CAn anyone maybe give me a reason to why this would be happening? Any advice would really make me feel better....

Thanks sooo much!About acne developing in adults..?
Hi Mandy

Here is an unusual but very effective method to heal many issues (especially skin). Also whatever you focus on in life you attract. If you focus more on acne issues instead of healthy habits%26lt; you will have more acne issues. Just focus on the positives of life because that is what you want correct? The universe knows what you dont want. Be thankful everyday and focus on the bright and healthy future.

INTRODUCTION TO OIL PULLING (';OP';)

REPORTED CURES WITH OIL PULLING:

Mouth %26amp; Gum Disease; Stiff Joints; Allergies; Asthma; Acne, High Blood Sugar; Constipation; Migraines; Bronchitis; Eczema; Heart, Kidney, Lung Diseases; Leukemia; Arthritis; Meningitis; Insomnia; Menopause (hormonal issues); Cancer; AIDS; Chronic Infections; Varicose Veins; High Blood Pressure; Diabetes; Polio; Cracked Heels,.

Here's are a few paragraphs from Bharat Savur's article on The Hindu Business Online

...';When Dr Karsch examined the swished milk-white oil under a microscope with 600 magnification, he saw live organisms swimming in it. It's poisonous, so never swallow it, he warns. These poisons are bacteria-embryos, which, if not eliminated, cause diseases. Apparently, Dr Karsch cured his own chronic blood disease and 15-year-old arthritis.

The first sign of improvement is in the teeth-they become firm and white, he says. Other healing indications: fresh, relaxed feeling on waking up, disappearing dark pouches below the eyes, anew appetite and energy, better memory and deep sleep.

Dr Karsch swears by the mouth oil-wash for anything from organ-disorders, skin-diseases, menstrual problems, paralysis to every ache and it is in the human anatomy. You can swish even when you have fever, he says, adding, it takes anything from two days to a year to cure a disease.

And if these claims sound exaggerated, he told a conference of Ukrainian cancer specialists, try out the process yourself.

Interestingly, Ayurveda advises oil swishing ';to purify the taste-buds and the entire system';, as explained by Dr Deepak Chopra in Perfect Health.

According to this life science, the tongue is mapped by organ-locations 鈥?that is, each section of the tongue is connected to the kidneys, lungs, spleen, liver, heart, pancreas, small intestines, stomach, colon, and spine.

Thus, an oil-mouth-massage soothes and stimulates the key meridians where taste meets organ. Simultaneously, as in any skin-massage, the inner skin and lining of the mouth, palate and tongue become warm and supple and the lubrication prevents dryness (the vatic effect).

In modern dietetics too, dryness is discussed.

For example, lack of Vitamin A (retinal) causes the outer lining of the eyeball to dry and wrinkle, and affects vision.

And as any dietician would tell you, all oils contain 960 micrograms of vitamin A per 10 gm (the recommended daily allowance of vitamin A per adult is 600 micrograms). So, it's possible that oil gargling helps in reaching the required retinal to the eyeballs and keeps them elastic and smooth.

Likewise, the Ayurvedic `purification of taste-buds' also has its equivalent in dietetics as `antioxidants'. Oxidation literally means `the putrefaction of body-tissues'.

And oil-soluble vitamins, A, C, D, and E are antioxidants that protect and prevent the decaying process and help maintain the integral functioning of cell membranes. That's why many people are ingesting vitamin E pills to stem `aging' (oxidation). ';

Best of health to youAbout acne developing in adults..?
Hey... Thanks for all your help.. to everyone!!!!!!!! Report Abuse

Acne develops for a number of reasons. It could be that your hormone levels have changed in a different way or that your skin is now more prone to hosting P. acnes, the bacteria responsible for most acne. Is your skin drier now? If it cracks or has other micro-injuries, this helps P. acnes to inflame your skin in certain spots around your face.
Hi!

I actually found a facial oil that slows down your skins oil production, clears up pimples/ acne and dissolves black heads within 4-8 weeks I put all the info on my blog as it's quite detailed:

http://beautymoi.blogspot.com/

I also put a full article of how to extract blackheads and steam your skin.

Black heads are basically a hardened oil mixture that was secreted from your pores and oxidized (which makes the outside part black) and since water and oil don't mix, no water based product can ';clean'; your blackheads away, just try say putting certain foundations or makeups on the mirror and if you wipe it with water it smudges all over but put a little baby oil and wipe and tada! it comes off super clean AND dissolves it. So this is basically how this oil works. It's composition is such that the skin accepts it as a healing oil and it does not clog your skin but rather protects it while the plant extracts inside go down into the pores (this absorption is made possible by applying the toner to the skin before applying the oil and then applying the dabs of oil over your moistened face), it then penetrates into the pores.

I put where to the name of the oil and prices in stores versus on eBay as well as how to apply it on my blog:

http://beautymoi.blogspot.com/

Also you may want to Google Drying Lotion by Mario Badescu.

Take care and good luck!

many adult women suffer from ance due to the changes in their hormone levels. i started breaking out in my late 20's - so the best advice i can give, is see a dermatologist. and yes, it's very common to suffer from depression from breakouts. not only does it make you self concious, but we all know women are judged on their appearances more then men, so we get the added pleasure of that pressure. i'm sure it's a hormonal thing. did you start on the pill recently, or switch b/c? that could be a cause as well. best bet in any situation is seeing a doctor, since as adults, it's usually a hormone issue.
I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.

Here is a link :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradeniti鈥?/a>

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.

Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.

There is some support groups at MSN , and yahoo, and I am open for questions!

I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don鈥檛 have to wait as long as I did.
Maybe you've developed an allergy to food or a product you are using. Try eliminating certain things from you diet one food group at a time for at least two weeks. If you don't see an improvement there, change up your detergents and make-up to see what happens.
PIMPLES

Pimples is a unique skin disorder.Pimples are lesions that occur when the skin鈥檚 pores are obstructed or infected. They can form for a variety of reasons. However, the mechanism involved in causing some pores to collapse and block drainage of natural oils is not really understood. Pimples may also crop up for genetic reasons. It is not clear how it can be inherited from one鈥檚 parents, but studies do indicate a high occurrence of pimples in children whose parents had it,too.

The pimples associated with adolescence almost certainly occur because of hormonal changes that take place during puberty. Both males and females get an overdose of the male hormone testosterone during this period, causing excessive generation of sebaceous fluids that invariably cause pimples.

GIVEN BELOW ARE A FEW SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES TO FIGHT PIMPLES.

1.The most basic form of pimple prevention is hygiene and preventive skin care. Regular washing of the affected areas with mild soap is a must. The soap need not necessarily contain any chemicals designed to prevent pimples .However, face washing should not be overdone or the skin will become dehydrated .

2.Care should be taken on makeup, moisturizers and other skin care products. If these products are oil based,it would just make the problem worse. Use water based products instead.

3.Generally we rub, press or squeeze our pimples.Don鈥檛 when we do this,we risk spreading the bacteria to other areas.

4.Lemon juice diluted in water can be applied externally because of its antiseptic

quality.

5.Tea Tree oil can also be applied directly to infected pores.

6.Vitamin A tablets are also a natural and effective cure. Vitamin A promotes healthy skin.

7.Before bathing, apply a mixture of fresh tomato pulp, honey and rose-water to your face and keep for twenty minutes before washing off.

8.Juice of raw papaya is the best treatment for pimples.Apply fresh juice of raw papaya on pimples and get a good result.

9.Directly rub potato slices all over the face, helps to get rid of blemishes and

pimple scar.

10.Drink plenty of water and vegetable or fruit juices.

11.Use cucumber or other fruit and vegetable packs to cure pimple scars.

12.Maintain a diet that is rich in cottage cheese, salads, fresh juices, fish and

yogurt. These help to cleanse your system and ward off pimples.

13.Another overnight home remedy for pimples is to put a dab of toothpaste on it to help dry it out. Calamine lotion also will have the same drying effect.

14.Pound orange peel with water and apply to affected areas.

15.Another useful remedy for pimples is zinc. Which can be taken in a dose of 50 mg daily for a month and then reduce the dose.

16.You can clean your skin with apple cider vinegar as an overnight home pimple remedy.

17.Aspirin contains Beta hydroxy acid which is a powerful defoliant ,so you can crush 1to 2 Aspirin tablets mix with a little water and apply on pimples for 15 minutes and wash.

Finally, certain medications may temporarily alter the hormonal changes prevalent during adolescence and cause pimple outbreaks. If this is the case, a simple adjustment in medication may be all that is required.
Hey,don't worry.all these things happened in life.Pl avoid the use of spicy as well as the high amount of sugar in ur daily diet and use fresh fruits like papaya, citrus and also rose water.InshAllah u will be recover ur old skin.keep smilling and respect the elder and tender to ur yuongster.
YOu can be breaking out from a number of reasons. Stress, hormones, products.....it could be anything. See a dermotologist and suggest Tazorac cream and use a gentle cleanser....Mario Badescu has some great face washes for acne. You can find them online. And most importantly.....do not pick or squeeze, this is the ultimate way for acne to spread.

Hope this helped!
Check with Dr. Can be adult acne, stress/hormones, or Rosacea...I have Rosacea and the medicine I use actually helps make acne go away/prevent. Nice skin now :)

(Er, a side note someone said that if you forget to wash pillow case that residual oils can build up and get on skin along with bacteria....wash pillow case often...)

Your right, as an adult, our hormones are pretty much caput. You are still young, and if your acne is still an issue, you can either go to a dermatologist and he will put you on a low dose antibiotic (because is usually is a bacterial infection of the skin); my daughters' acne clear up in no time with it. You just can hang out in the sun with it. Or try the acne program you see on TV (I forget the name), it's cheaper in Walmart, but does the same thing. That worked for my teens too. Most of the adults don't have acne.... ?
So many people asking this question today. It won't go away unless you change your eating habits.

or use some kind of acne medication... like Neutrogena

but to answer your question in one sentence: acne has no age limit.

It might go away when you're 30 or 40... maybe not.
    Yes, it will.

Obviously there was a change in your environment and your body responded differently than its needed to before. I expect you've had a different kind of stress, perhaps a new living environment and/or work environment, etc. You'll have to treat your body differently. See http://familydoctor.org/001.xml for more information on acne. Basically you'll need to pay more attention to oil-prone areas of the body by washing those parts twice daily with soap and water (sometimes 3 times daily if you're exposed to, for instance a hot or humid work environment). If that alone is insufficient then you'll also need to treat with a product containing benzoyl-peroxide. Check labels. If that also fails then you need to talk to your doctor about prescription alternatives.

    What causes acne in adults?

Fatty diets do not cause acne. In adults it is generally hormonal. Obviously healthy eating may help you to have clearer skin, but it has no effect whatsoever on acne.

Okay. I would be the perfect person to listen to, because, I've had acne, used EVERYTHING and now I don't have it anymore. So, treating acne takes TIME and works in Stages to overcome it.

1st Step-Open Pores-this can be done with a hot shower, or applying hot water to face to open the pores.

2nd Step-Cleaning out the Pores-this is where those commercial advertisements and all of those products come in. Different products work for different people. But, let me recommend ProActive. I just got it 3 weeks ago, and it's working wonders. Right in your price range too! about 19.95 a month and they automatically send it to your door!

3rd Step-Following your plan! Whatever you use follow these steps... Open Pores, Clean Pores, Close Pores, Hydrate (because cleaning the pores usually dries them out). Follow this cleaning process 3 times a day.

4th Step-DIET!-and not just burning fat diet, but what you eat is what you are! True Story! Eating greasy, hi-fat, hi-cal foods will promote more acne! So...eat less or none at all, and same for the acne, less or NONE!

Thats just the basic, there is a lot more I could tell you so just email me for more information. tomd562@gmail.com

Let me know how your acne does!!!
I've used Eucerin face wash and moisture lotion. It's for sensitive skin so it can't cause much damage. ;D
I went through it as did my sisters. The best thing to do would be to go to a dermatologist. They will definatly prescribe you medications, most likely an antibiotic and topical creams, and ask them what face wash you should use. It shouldn't be too costly if you have good insurance. I would recommend neutrogena acne wash applyed twice a day with a gental scrub brush. Make sure what ever face wash you use is oil free. Also use a toner they do wonders! Diet can have alot to do with your acne as well so maybe you should look closer at what you eat and stay away from highly greasy and sugary foods. Remember it is all about moderation. =] Good luck.
I use stridex pads for sensitive skin in the morning and St. Ives apricot scrub at night.

Stridex pads both in the morning and at night work for me too, but dries out my skin really bad.

  • What's the best facewash for acne-prone adults?

Try the Mary Kay skin care line with customized skin care products for acne. The best thing to with your skin is always to keep it clean as well as treating the breakouts. This helps prevent breakouts.

There are five steps to basic skin care not including the acne treatment gel I would have you try.

    1. Cleanse

    2. Exfoliate

    3. Tone/Freshen

    4. Moisturize

    5. Protect

The Mary Kay 3 in 1 cleanser can do the first three steps in one. The fifth step is protect. You want to use an oil free foundation. When your skin is protected with foundation you can wash off the impurities that your skin catches in the air. The foundation catches the irritants and impurities instead of them getting into your pores causing further breakouts. Mary Kay is satasfaction guaranteed. So if you try it and it doesnt work for you you can get different products or your money back.

Also it is so important that when you are using skin care you use one line be it Mary Kay or Avon or a Walmart brand. They are formulated to work with one another. Mixing products not designed to work together can cause reactions in some people. ;) Hope this was helpful!!

I used to have very bad acne. I now just use regular soap and a loufa (a good subsitute is the buf puf). The soap helps loosen everything up but the loufa sheads all the dead skin cells off. My skin looks tons better now.

Why are teenagers more likely to get acne than older adults and young children?

well the reason is in teen years both in girls and boys there are lots of changes in endocrine system and hormone activities of the body.in boys testis is begining to produce testostrone that is a very potent androgen.in females androgen is produced by 2 sources adrenal gland and ovaries, the androgen in females is less potent and mainly is androstondion..androgen production although will continue for rest of everybodies life after teen years in teenagers just started and it is very irregular as a result teens not also have a very huge changes because of the sex hormones they are also affected by the irrigulairity of regulating systems. one of the changes is acne(technical word for it is acne vulgaris, vulgaris means regular-sometimes we have other forms aswell!! i dont wana make it compilicated!!).after the tenn years because of regulating adjustment and also because of established skin changes everything is resolved.in females androgen level also goes down because the cycles become more regular and main sex hormone wil switch to estrogen although androstondion still is produced from adrenal in very low levelWhy are teenagers more likely to get acne than older adults and young children?

it's because of hormones, during your teenage years you have a lot of surges, and ups and down, all the things that cause your face to break out...but there are millions of adults with acne also. it varys from person to person, i didn't get my first pimple till i was 22 and pregnant.
    Because of harmones.

    Why do adults have acne?

Acne is not limited to teens. It is a result of clogged pores, genetics, skin conditions, environment, hygiene, sometimes diet, and even allergies. Why do adults have acne?
inherited, poor diet or they are not clean. Why do adults have acne?
Welcome to my life...hormones, environment, products or just simply genes. Try different things you may find something that works for you.
For the same reason some Teens do, blocked skin pores!.
because overactive sebaceous glands during puberty are not the only cause of it. some people have sensitive skin that breaks out, some people (me!) have large pores and thick skin that clogs easily.
genetics, poor diet, poor hygiene, stress
i get it from makeup and stress but not many at all once in a bluemoon

Why did God created Acne for teenagers and adults?

serious answers please..Why did God created Acne for teenagers and adults?
My daughter is struggling with the same thing... right around her nose. She HATES it. There are a few other things I'd like to know the reasoning behind as well. But beside the point... God did create our bodies so we need to figure out the best way to take care of them.

Best wishes...Why did God created Acne for teenagers and adults?
Maybe you should try easing up on the cleansers.

Like any other body system, your skin oils will become heavier and thicker the more it gets used, or in this case, need to be replaced.

Sometimes cleaning too much (overcleaning) can cause your skin to produce more oil, as your body can't figure out why it's all being stripped away.

Also, lay off the sodas and colas. I pretty much stopped a while back, and it's done wonders for me.

Try drinking some more water, too. It will take some of that pore-clogging crap out of your system when you pee (which should be clear).

Oh, and go easy on the deep-fried and breaded foods, too.

It takes a concerted effort and a few weeks, but if you actually do all these instead of just saying you will, you can actually get much clearer skin.

    No over-priced crap needed!
im not sure...maybe he was at the end of the day and got a little tired. im sure he also invented the saying ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder. or beauty is only skin deep. :)
god doesn't exists. it can all be explained scientifically. if you actually know what your talking about it makes sense.
He didn't.. he doesn't exist. Try washing more, and eat more decent food.
he did not created it,, it's just the way your body works
Because Eve sined so now the whole world suffers because we all sin

Why adolescents experience more acne than adults?

They are changing and growing at a fast pace.

Many previously unused hormones are kicking in for the first time. That causes the breakouts. Why adolescents experience more acne than adults?
The main reason for this precaution is that the facial tissue is more sensitive and finer than those tissues of the body. It is this increased blood flow which will bring more nutrients to the skin. Also note that adult acne is sometimes the by-product of stress and dehydration. As for adolescents-it's the hormones. Why adolescents experience more acne than adults?
because during the years of adolescence your body is unstable in its hormone production. acne is a direct result of this although many adults can suffer it as well especially pre-menopausal/menopausal women. as an adult your hormones level out...you don't need quite as much quantity to grow and develop any more so the rate of acne drops a lot.
Adolescents experience more acne because their hormones are rageing and their hormones are making them produce more oil that would clog the sebeacous gland; that would soon later form a pimple or acne.

Why is it that teenagers get more acne than kids, adults, and elders?

Hormones, diet, your showering habits, sleep, stress all things teens encounter - some adults do have acne - more then when they were a kid, stress/hormones there too.Why is it that teenagers get more acne than kids, adults, and elders?
    puberty? Report Abuse
Why is it that teenagers get more acne than kids, adults, and elders?
Because... of their out-of-control hormones (puberty). You don't have active hormones when you are a kid... and once you're older, the hormones are settled.
Hormonal and bodily changes is why it is more common in teenagers. This is when you need to develop a good skin routine for facial and body care. Some people don't develop acne until they are adults though.
yea, when ur a child your hormones arent as out of control as they are when ur going through pueberty and during the teenage years your hormones are raging and the smallest thing can trigger a huge reaction, so like if i eat chocolate cake for 4 days in a row i get tons of zits, but if my dad does too he might get one, but it will be barely noticeable and go away pretty quickly b/c his hormones are more in control

    it will pass, dont worry
HAVE U seen some adults faces!???! im a teen i NEVER had acne not even 1 :) but im only 14. so yea
Teenagers have more hormones then adults because by the time we reach adulthood our hormones have leveled out. Just getting out of puberty makes our skin more oily and as I said harmones are all crazy.
During puberty, the hormones that regulate how much oil your body makes are going crazy, which typically causes teens to make more oil, which leads to more acne.
    its prob. cuz of puberty
teens get more cause there going through puburty and everyone either hasn't done it, or is done with it.

  • Is it true that people who suffer from acne as teens and young adults (18-2___ yrs) don't get acne as adults?

I've heard of this a lot. And I want to know if it is true....Someone know the real answer? Thanks. Is it true that people who suffer from acne as teens and young adults (18-2___ yrs) don't get acne as adults?
Acne or blemish-prone skin is a remarkably common skin condition. While many adolescents may experience acne, this condition also can appear for the first time in adults in their 20s or 30s or even later in life. Generally, however, if you had acne as a teenager, you are more likely to have it again as an adult. Eighty to 100 percent of all teenagers have acne to some degree, and an increasing number of adult women also have some acne.

Limit the number of layers of cosmetics products they apply and to avoid any products containing oil.

Excessive scrubbing or frequent cleansing will not control it, and any rough manipulation of the skin may further irritate and inflame the lesions or even lead to the formation of new acne lesions.

Mary Kay offers a Gentle Cleanser, Oil Mattifier, Blemish Control Toners, a wonderful clarifying mask for blemish prone skin, Acne Treatment Gel and Beauty Clotters oil obsorbing tissues that will help. Good luck.Is it true that people who suffer from acne as teens and young adults (18-2___ yrs) don't get acne as adults?
No, your pores can get clogged and cause a blemish any time. Stress, being sick and stretching your time too thin can also cause them. My cousin (in her mid 20's) got acne along her chin again during her pregnancy even though she faught it through out her teens. It's more of a genetics thing, some people never get them and some get them all their lives.
It is not true for everyone. It depends on why you get acne in the first place. I have dealt with since my teen years, nothing over the counter meds can't treat. When I was in my early adult years it hit me pretty bad and I have had to see a dermatologist. The reason you don't see many adults with acne becuase they go to the dermatologist to get it under control
not true. i have had acne since i was 11 %26amp; i am 24 now... and my mom was the same way. she continued to have acne breakouts until she hit menopause...
No, some people struggle with it as a teenager and well into adulthood. My mum had acne, starting from her early teens right into her 30's. I also had acne in my late teens and still get some breakouts today at 26, although I took accutane when I was 21. HTH.
yup, so if u are teen get some acne now!
if it is, then i missed that train, i had alot of acne when i was younger, i still get it everyonce in a while.
This is a myth, most teens do have acne as adults, I'm 44 and still get breakouts, especially on my neck. Also, the person who said acne on adults is due to bad skin habits, is misinformed. I see a dermatologist every 2 months and it has nothing to do with bad skin habits. It's totally untrue that acne is caused by not washing your face/skin, actually too much washing can cause breakouts.

Call a dermatologist or make an appointment if you haven't already. A dermatologist can give you the best treatment and advice.
I don;'t think so. most adults don;t have acne.
It can last well into adulthood, sorry to burst your bubble but its the truth. I know people over 30 and 40 who have severe acne still.
I'm 25 and I had acne then and I have acne now (worse because I'm pregnant). My mom was the opposite, she had perfect skin while she was in high school and got minor acne when she was in her late 30's. I think it really depends on the person and how their skin changes as they get older.

    Adult acne?

I'm 29 %26amp; have been battling skin problems since around 22 or so. I would classify my skin as ';oily'; but also very sensitive...most ';acne'; treatments really irritate my skin. I've gone to a dermatologist, but talk about harsh! I've had better luck w/ over the counter stuff. Has anyone else managed adult acne w/ something that they love? Proactive is too harsh for me (even the sensitive version.) I'm been using Murad's sensitive skin regimen, %26amp; although it does a good job of not irritating my skin, I can't say that it's doing much to actually clear it up either...thanks!Adult acne?
well i have a few things that help my skin, and made it clear up pretty fast.

    1. Drink plenty of water. (Trust me, it clears up skin like magic)

    2. Try to lose the suguar-ie sodas and such

    3. Hearing about your type of skin, I would wash your face once in the morning, and once at night, this way your pores will be cleared of most bactiria.

    4. Just eat healthy, whether you're younger or older eating helathy will always benifit you in the near future.

    5. If you try all of these things and it still does'nt cut down the ance, then you can use lemon or tomato slices on any infected areas. These foods are high in acids and are able to get in your pores and kill bacteria. I used it and I have perfectly fine skin now, so go ahead and try it

P.S. Get out daily! Make sure that the computer light isn't the only light you see, going outside and letting your pores breathe helps, good luck! :]Adult acne?

Here are some real answers on skin conditions. Remedies at the bottom. Cleansing the body of toxins is the key. Especially a colon cleanse! Educate yourself on detoxifying the blood.

    Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - ';What is your skin trying to tell you? Often the skin is a metaphor for deeper issues and a way for your body to send up a red flag to warn you that all is not well underneath. When our skin is unhealthy it is usually a reflection of the internal state of our bodies, and is often a sign of poor elimination of toxins and waste products. Most of us are embarrassed by skin problems such as rashes, rosacea, boils or acne, especially in places where others can see our imperfections. The skin is the body's first line of defense against the environment. It has to deal with the effects of weather, sun , cold, heat, dryness, humidity, scrapes, bumps, soaps, detergents, chemicals, perspiration and dirt of all kinds. It is a wonder that our skin stays healthy most of the time! We can help our skin deal with this onslaught by optimizing our general health and by protecting our skin from harsh environmental exposure. Western medicine generally treats skin eruptions with either antibiotics, cortisone, or antifungal preparations. These medicines may alleviate the skin problem temporarily, or occasionally for good, but do not address the source of the problem. Putting a lid on skin symptoms without getting to the root of the imbalance may even result in suppression, that means the imbalance may be driven deeper causing more serious health problems later without ever strengthening the underlying vital force of the person. Fortunately, naturopathic medicine offers a wide vareity of effective treatments for skin problems.';

    Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman N.D. - ';Your skin is a reflection of how well your body is eliminating the toxins that build up on a daily basis. Chronic skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis stem from a combination of genetic factors, immune stress, dietary deficiencies or sensitivities, and the accumulation of toxins in the body. For our skin to be radiant and clear, it is very important that the other organs of elimination (kidneys, liver, lungs, and colon) are cleansing the body effectively. If not, the skin will be overtaxed, pores will become clogged, and eruptions of one sort or another will result. Here are a number of steps you can take to improve your body's overall elimination wtih specific emphasis on your skin.';

Detoxification is a normal body process of eliminating or neutralizing toxins through the colon, liver, kidneys, lungs, lymph and skin. Juice Fasting is the world's most ancient and natural healing mechanism. Fasting triggers a truly wondrous cleansing process that reaches right down to each and every cell and tissue in the body.

Learn more about Therapeutic Fasting and Detoxification - Colon Cleansing is the main step. Must remove the toxins from the colon, so the toxins dont get in the blood and cause illness and disease.

    Natural Cures

    1. Fruits and Vegetables for Acne: Carrot %26amp; spinach, celery %26amp; watercress, grapefruit juices are all useful to combat acne.

    2. Unwholesome Foods: Acne, a prevalent problem among teen-aged boys would not be possible in our society if our foods were wholesome. A most sad and disgusting sight is the pus-filled pimples due to inner toxicity --- wastes trying desperately to escape through the face. This condition often turns a gentle face in the blossom of youth into a waste dump of pimples, pus and subsequent pock marks which can be prevented. The tons of acne medications and prescriptions sold annually act only on the effect of the harmful food, and not the cause of the disease, malnutrition. The traditional teenage meal, a grease burger, french fries and a milk shake or cola simply does not provide enough nourishment for anyone, let alone a boy going through puberty to adulthood. Our highly processed foods are devoid of hormones found in fresh fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds. Must do a colon cleanse to rid of all the toxins in the body, which eventually get into the blood and cause acne and all other diseases.

    3. Cabbage: Apply a lotion of freshly prepared cabbage juice preceded, if desired, by the application of leaves. The eating of cabbage leaves or juice is also helpful.

    4. Lemon Juice: Skin problems such as acne... will often respond to a treatment of lemon juice. For blackheads rub lemon juice over them each night.

    5. Black Walnut: Externally, Black Walnut is nearly a miracle worker in cases of ...acne, dandruff, boils, itch, shingles, ringworm--we could go on, but you can see that you can use Black Walnut whenever a skin disorder appears! The tincture is an excellent first-aid remedy for wounds.

    Best of health to you

Why do some adults still get acne?

    Please help

And how to get rid of itWhy do some adults still get acne?
I'm 22 and I still get minor breakouts and it's because I have oily skin. The plus side is that if you have oily skin, which you very well may, you are less likely to have wrinkles since your skin doesn't dry out.

If you have really bad acne, I suggest the prescription Accutane (it's a pill that you take once a day). It's basically the ultimate cure for acne. I used to have it on my cheeks, but after 3 months my skin was completely clear. The max. time to take it is 6 months but my skin wasn't that bad.

For breakouts I suggest the prescription Differin gel. After one day it's dried out, and after 2 it's clear. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil or Neutrogena.

I used Proactive when I had persistent breakouts, but it really dried my skin and it was uncomfortable right after I washed my face.

All in all, a gentle cleanser and prescription gel work best. Why do some adults still get acne?
    Causes of adult acne...

1.Bad diet is number one cause of adult-onset acne. Bad diet, which robs us of essential nutrients and disrupts both digestive ecology and healthy hormonal balance

    2. Hormones, which, again, easily get out of balance due to inappropriate food, stress, hormone-containing medication, birth-control pills, and changes brought by the monthly cycle, menopause and pregnancy.

    3. Genes. Hereditary element can worsen adult acne, especially in severe cases of so-called “scarring acne”.

    4. Synthetic face-care products and makeup, which clog the pores and disrupt the acid-alkaline balance of the face skin. Needless to say that, if you want to have a clean skin, you always should opt for natural and preferably home-made creams and other beauty products for your face.

    What are the solutions?

Change your diet, switch to natural face-care products, and be patient - your body will need some time to restore the balance and cure your skin. A great natural approach to treating adult acne is described here.

However, if you want immediate results, you can try some of numerous acne medications (which usually just mask the symptoms and which I therefore do not recommend). Top acne treatment products can be found at www.review-acne-treatments.com, while information on homeopathic acne remedies you can find at therapy www.biogetica.com.
I use neutrogena acne wash every day and I try to remember to use the night time wash also and it gets rid of a lot of my acne. Acne is caused by oily skin. I saw one of your other posts about a non expensive pet and wanted to tell you to think maybe a virtual pet would be a good starter like www.neopets.com or something like that.
Hormones, stress - and our lovely genes.

What have you used and have you really fought hard ?

Try a three step regime of an acne wash, toner (so important)

and spot treat it with acne cream. Twice a day (Am/PM) without fail - use all natural make up - tinted moisturizer and or a mineral powder foundation (if you wear any).

    I suggest Proactiv

Arbonne's acne line is amazing - (find a local rep)

Bert's bee also has some great acne fighting things.

Whatever you do fight it hard - twice a day - and using a toner really helps balance your face. :)

    Look in to Alba (walgreen's).
yeah stress causes bad skin , but I use neutrogena acne wash

2 times in the shower and a good vitamin e moisturizer after

and my skin and acne is 80 percent improved, but I definetly

think its stress cuz off all the bullshit I go through every day.
I'm not sure why others get it, but for me it was a hormone imbalance. My insulin was way off, beginning of type 2 diabetes. Once I started working out and losing weight, it went straight away.
    Aren't you 13?

...And Murad products work very nicely I've found. Drink water.

I get acne almost all the time and i'am 11 so I can't use any adult products what should I do??

TEA TREE OIL IS VERY GOOD. IT'S A NATURAL ANTISEPTIC. PUT DIRECTLY ON THE PIMPLE, USING TOO MUCH CAN DRY OUT THE SKIN. IT KEEPS BLACKHEADS ON THE NOSE AT BAY TOO.

YOU MAY HAVE TO SEARCH FOR IT. IT COMES IN A SMALL BROWN (DARK) BOTTLE. THE BODY SHOP MAY CARRY IT. I KNOW WALMART DOES.

Try the oily skin products from Mary Kay.
Have you tried the Clear Advantage line from Arbonne International? A friend of mine uses this line and raves about it - botanical based, zinc for faster healing. E-mail me if you want to know more.
Try this simple remedy. Wash your face twice a day in warm salty water. This should leave your face oil free without aggravating the acne like soap. The secret of keeping the skin clear is to keep it oil-free and clean. Check out http://useinfo-acne.blogspot.com/ for more useful info.

  • If you have acne as a teen, are you more likely to have clear skin as an adult? Like 20's and 30's on?

I had a relative who had acne when she was a teenager but her complexion cleared up when she got older. Still, she always looked quite young for her age and we attributed that to having oily skin which probably caused the acne to occur in the first place. If you have acne as a teen, are you more likely to have clear skin as an adult? Like 20's and 30's on?
Many people do ';grow out'; of acne, but it depends. If you have acne as a teen, are you more likely to have clear skin as an adult? Like 20's and 30's on?
Depends. Some people have acne all their life, while others only get it in teenage years. Everyone's skin is different, therefore it's hard to say that if you have acne as a teen, you won't get it as an adult. I would guess that you would most likely only have acne as a teen, but plently of adults have acne when they were teenagers and still have it in their twenties and thirties.
That all depends on the person. I had acne really bad as a teen but now that I am 21 I only get a pimple if I'm under a lot of stress. My 35 year old brother still has bad acne.

    The weird stuff comes next:

Get comfortable in front of the TV with lots of pillows around. Choose your show and take off all metal (watches, rings, etc.) that you can (slows energy).

Take your left palm and put it on your right calf. Support it with pillows. We want you to relax (allows energy to zip). Now do the same with your other palm and calf. Watch your TV show (1 hour).

Do this a few days in a row, and your face will be like a baby's bottom.

    Keep washing, though.

Can somebody recommend somethng for ACNE problems at adult (over 35) age?

I've had problems with acne basically all my life, specially at young age with significant open pores and scars now that i am over 35 yrs old. The problem is that I still have the problem at lower scale and througout my body (chest, arms and back) I don't take any medications just try to feed myself properly; no fats, very little red meat or things like that. Can somebody advise the best possible remedy and/or recommend a reliable/professional dermatologist in the San Fernando CA area? Can somebody recommend somethng for ACNE problems at adult (over 35) age?
The best tip I ever got was to use lemons. Open your pores first with steam. Then, dab the juice directly on the outbreaks. Once a week, use a clay mask to control the oil.Can somebody recommend somethng for ACNE problems at adult (over 35) age?
I use Albery products they are all natural and do wonders for the skin

Adult & Teen Men who have acne producing red pimples...?

Do you ever use any kind of concealer, makeup, or powder to cover really red breakouts?

If yes, do you care that makeup is ';girly'; or you just care that you look good and ready to face the world in the morning?

If no, is it because its too ';girly'; or just because you dont care or need to.Adult %26amp; Teen Men who have acne producing red pimples...?

Well, I wish it was acceptable for men to wear makeup, but unfortunately it's not. You can try it, but don't be surprised if people notice the makeup and give you crap.
I never suffered from acne but I apply moisturizer and aftershave in the morning. I hope that's not girly.

What are the factors that influence severe acne for teenagers and young adults?

The deal is ive been getting a few light blemishes on my cheeks lately and i am afraid that by doing certain things my little pimples will get worse. What can you advise me not to do during this phase? And also is this only hormones?i am 15.What are the factors that influence severe acne for teenagers and young adults?
Hormones and stress can cause acne at your age. I don't believe that chocolate effects it at all but eating a lot of greasy foods or being around where food is frying will make acne worse. Just keep your face scrupulously clean at all times. Sometimes the only thing that helps, besides seeing a dermatologist, is just age. By the time you are in your late teens or early 20s you shouldn't have a problem. What are the factors that influence severe acne for teenagers and young adults?
A lot is hormones. Wash your face in the morning and at night, with a face wash, not regular soap. You might need something stronger, like ProActive. I use that. Don't pick the pimples - especially the red, deep ones! Just the white ones where the stuff is right at the surface, and wait as long as you can bear to for those too. If you do pick it, then go wash it with face wash right away.

Diet can also have a big impact. Greasy foods and sugary foods both contribute to my acne. I know for certain, because I will be clear until I eat a good-sized bag of chips or a Hershey bar. :(

  • Does anyone know the name of the drugs prescribed for adults with acne?

There are several. The one that I'm familiar with is called Accutane. It is very strong and you have to have a prescription from a dermatologist. In addition to that you would have to be monitored through blood work labs on a regular basis. The treatment works but it can get expensive.

I would recommend Pro-Activ though. I have several family members that have tried it and it works. It is not as expensive as Accutane and it doesn't have the side effects that Accutane does.Does anyone know the name of the drugs prescribed for adults with acne?
This depends on the patient's age, the site and the severity.

Usual first option is a degreaser most of these are peroxide based. Next step is an antibiotic, this can be topical or oral. Final option is Roacutane, which is only prescribable by specialist dermatologists, due to its potential side effects.Does anyone know the name of the drugs prescribed for adults with acne?
    Yeah, its called SOAP.
I was given a cream script from just a general practitioner Dr. a long time ago and had gotten a new one for tiny insect bites. The one for those tiny bites didn't help so much for the bites but when a few pimples surfaced on my head I used that at nite and showered every morning. They cleared up ok but seems from what I read about it there are dangers. I think you should see a doctor and until then keep washing the affected area but pat dry, don't rub, to prevent spreading, try not using any harsh abrasives on the affected area's to prevent scaring.
    there are sooooo many

i would go to the drug store and find a good brand with your skin type and everything like that

    i like neutrogena

What do you think of I.D. Bare Minerals Makeup? I am an adult w/ very oily & acne prone skin.?

I work for a dermatologist and have heard nothing but great things about this makeup line from patients. However, the best thing for your skin would be to let it breathe. Also, if your acne is severe and you have tried many products that havent worked you can ask your dermatologist about Accutane, but this is only fro very sevre cases of acne. Some other makeup brands you may want to lok into are nuetrogena and physicians formulaWhat do you think of I.D. Bare Minerals Makeup? I am an adult w/ very oily %26amp; acne prone skin.?
I use it and it is great. Just have to make sure you blend well because it can sometimes look like too much powder. What do you think of I.D. Bare Minerals Makeup? I am an adult w/ very oily %26amp; acne prone skin.?
I attended a conference luncheon yesterday with several Aestheicians and a doctor. The mineral make ups are the better choice for your skin, however some carry toxic ingredients. So check out the labels. They may carry Paraben {preservative} or Phathalates both have been causing concerns in the medical community, for breast cancer. Good news though Jane Iredale is free of both of these. It is bit more expensive but there's great coverage.A professional make up artist can help you best with the right color choice. If care to find it fast, the web is www.janeiredale.com. You will find its best to know how specifically to apply any new make up.The buy and try is a bit expensive. If error we tend to say we didn't like it or it was a bad experience.
It works pretty well. When applied correctly it can greatly reduce the redness associated with acne. Trust me... I know...:) Plus, when i used it, my acne started to clear up some. But, the best advice i can give you, if you have the money to spend, buy Proactive. I started using it about a week or two ago and i havent had one pimple since. i absolutely love it. I works great and my skin isnt oily anymore.
i don't like bare minerals, and don't think it works:

    1. you gotta pile it on to get coverage

    2. its messy
I think the Bare Minderals makeup is just alright. It is a great concept and very trendy right now. However, I tried some and it made my pores look HUGE! Plus it can be difficult to find your perfect shade.
I have tried many brands, and if you take a look at my purse you will find the mascara from one plac, the blush another brand, and the lipstick from who knows... find the one that best suits you, and your pocket. ID minerals is kind of expensive. Have you tried ProActive for your face.
I have a fair bit of the bare mineral line. It works by cutting the shine of your skin so your skin looks smoother. It is basically just colored powders. Kind of nice.

BUT I think if you are acne prone it might be death to your skin. Powders tend to clog pores. Which is very bad for acne prone skin. You will need to keep your skin really, really clean!

I often use it over a normal make-up base. I am an older adult with normal skin, no longer oily and not yet dry. But I need more coverage. It may hide fine lines but they really mean FINE.
    its great
    I love it!!!!
Honestly i had it and it didn't really do too much for me. you still get oil..its not a miracle product.. I mean i think its worth a try but i dint continue getting it.. and it doesnt magicallycover everythign up either

What diseases cause acne and weight gain in adults?

Aside from thyroid problems and stress, what could be causing me to gain weight and develop horrid acne at age 29? I've seen my general practice doctor and a dermatologist but no one can figure it out. I think no one is seeing the big picture and that something underlying is causing this. Any ideas? We've ruled out thyroid, over-eating and stress. Thanks for your help! What diseases cause acne and weight gain in adults?
Two things I can think of to investigate first of all:

Cushing's syndrome - caused by too much of a hormone called cortisol. Causes weight gain (especially centrally, i.e. on the belly but not on arms and legs), stretch marks, acne and high blood sugar.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) - where there is a hormonal imbalance with slightly too much testosterone. Causes weight gain, acne, hairiness (e.g. facial hair) and irregular periods. Obviously only applies to women!

These can be investigated with blood tests and/or by an endocrinologist. Good luck! What diseases cause acne and weight gain in adults?

I get a facial boil once or Twice a month, they hurt pretty bad but when they pop it's more like puss not a head then the rest of the pimple goop. sorry TMI. I find that if i wash my face every day it is not as bad, i use biore products they are a bit expensive between 10 and 15 Australian dollars but i think that is worth it.

  • Does Retin A really help acne in adult women?

I'm 35 and my acne is not much better than it was when I was 15.

    Someone suggested retin a.

I remember using it when I was younger (and it was new - like, back when I was 15) and I wasn't that impressed with it back then - too many side effects for too little benefit. But I realize I have different skin in other ways now.

    Whats anyones opinion on this?

Does Retin A really help acne in adult women?
It completely depends on your skin type.

I also have adult acne and it didn't work for me. I finally found that a light anti-botic helped.

Talk to your dermatologist, they should be able to recommend something and you may have to try several things before you find something that works for you. Does Retin A really help acne in adult women?
Yeah, it depends on your skin, but I do know it will at least make your skin look younger and healthier (any strong vitamin A cream will). Several months ago I tried to ween myself off of benzoyl peroxide because it was making my skin look haggard. I switched to a strong vitamin A cream called Green Cream, but that alone doesn't do the job - I also have to use Burts Bees Herbal Blemish Stick (with tea tree oil). The tea tree oil works like benzoyl peroxide, but it's not quite as strong. Coupled with the Green Cream though, it controls my acne and the Green Cream makes my skin look glowing and young.

I've never had a complete turn-around with vitamin A creams alone, but benzoyl peroxide worked miracles on my acne. So, this regimen works well for me. It takes a long time for your skin to adjust to the creams though, and you may break out even worse than before while it's adjusting -- I know I did.
Retin A works like a chemical skin peel. If you weren't too impressed with it before, you probably won't be all that happy with it now either. At age 35, acne is unusual. You may want to see your doctor to see if you have a hormonal imbalance. If not that, I'd suggest seeing a dermatologist. I think you'll be much happier with the results he can give you, and let's face it -- after 20 years of acne, you deserve it!

    Good luck!

I'm in my 50's and have been fighting acne all my life. I tried using RetinA last year and it did not help at all. My skin was really dry and even after using it for several weeks I didn't notice any real difference. The insurance company doesn't want to pay for it either because I'm over 35. Sheesh.

I started using Clarins face cleanser and moisturizer and my face is more clear then it's been in years. I also had to go on HRT (which I fought for years) and that may be helping.

    Good luck!

Does anyone know any good ways to cure acne in adults?

Yes, buy some Evening Primrose oil capsules that is great for acne and buy some tea tree oil and dab a little on the pimples. That should dry them up but the Primrose oil will help purify your system. It works for me and I'm 28!Does anyone know any good ways to cure acne in adults?
I have seen a slight result in using a product I got from Walmart called Acne Free. My Mom use to take a medicine that helped her called Doxycycline.Does anyone know any good ways to cure acne in adults?
if you are in the uk buy some oitment from chemist called ddd will cure it in few days
    Roacnetan.
keep washing your face .. go to a skin specialist and they give u stuff 4 it and dont wear too much make up
Quick lesson on acne (to educate anyone that doesn’t know):

The skin is covered with tiny holes called pores. The pores have what are called ‘sebaceous glands,’ which make sebum (oil to moisten your hair and skin). If you’re lucky (unlike us), the glands produce the correct amount of sebum and no acne occurs. If you’re not lucky, the pores get clogged with excess sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria.

Whitehead – a pore that gets clogged, closes, and bulges out from the skin

Blackhead – a pore that gets clogged and stays open (top surface darkens)

Pimple – a pore with broken walls, leading to a buildup under the skin

Hormones stimulate the sebaceous glands to make sebum. Acne is caused by the glands being overactive. Acne is not caused by the greasy foods you eat, chocolate, soda, or any of those other fun stories we hear about (unless you’re smothering these products into your pores!!)

    What I learned:

Do not scrub the affected areas. This can make it worse by irritating the skin.

Use your hands instead of a wash cloth.

If you do find a moisturizer to use (or even with sunscreen), be sure to use oil-free products.

If you have long hair keep it away from the affected areas and wash it regularly (limits the amount of oil).

When you are stressed, your pores may make more sebum, so yes avoid negative stress.

When finished (or during) exercising or excessive sweating (gotta love _ _ _ ), wash the affected areas.

Try not to touch these areas (I also put sanitizer on my hands before messing with the fun of acne, which leads me to my next point – DO NOT PICK, SQUEEZE, or POP your acne.

Two ingredients to look for in products used to destroy this monster: benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. The first one kills the bacteria that leads to acne and can reduce swelling. The latter causes skin to dry out and peel (which also helps rid you of acne). And again, we come to another point – DO NOT OVERUSE your acne products (follow directions exactly). If you use too much, your skin can become very red and very dry. Always, try a little before putting it all over yourself to check for any potential allergic reactions.

In researching acne, you may want to search for “acne vulgaris.”

Try a dermatologist – they can prescribe stronger medications than what you can get at the store.

Good luck!! Hope I helped a little.
Yes, as an adult we are able to take ourselves to a good dermatologist and have him/her give us the necessary medicine to cure it.
yes, avoid dairy %26amp; saturated fats (eg red meat) for a start.

for more advice please type in acne in search in this site(this is a gem of a site regarding advice on diet, natural remedies, creams with natural ingredients that work etc).

Please look thru' results as not all are relevant.
Put 2-3 drops of lemon essential oil into a bowl of hot water, cover your head and the bowl with a towel and allow the steam to open your pores for around 10 minutes. The lemon oil will dry out your pores, although the results will not be instant.

Assuming you have already tried the over the counter acne preparations, most of which are based on peroxide, you need to see your GP.

There are 2 types of acne which affects adults, the ordinary spotty type= acne vulgaris, and the red faced, swollen nose type= acne rosacea.

Irrespective of age, acne is generally treated with either topical or oral antibiotics. These are all prescription only medicines. Unfortunately they are not a cure, only management, so they are often needed quite long term. They are however very safe for this purpose.
Not that this will work for everyone, but I use a Clay mask every other night. and I don't just put it on and wash it off, I leave it on all night. When I wash it off in the morning, my skin is just as smooth and no oil which my skin in really oily. I have bad adult acne, and this really does work for me.
No, but I found some of the answers to this question informative, thanx
For ACNE I would recommend you go see a dermatologist…however if you would rather try something on the market here is my suggestion:

ARBONNE Clear Advantage. This is a 4-step system. It includes an ACNE wash that is deep cleaning to unclog pores and keep outbreaks under control. A toner that contains alpha hydroxyl acids to help balance and calm skin, it removes excess oil and leaves skin soft, smooth and refreshed. A daily acne lotion that is oil free and penetrates deep to sooth and clarify skin. The fourth system is designed to help balance out the hormonal imbalance that is at the root cause of the acne breakouts. It is a dietary supplement that supports the skin from inside out. It is infused with vitamins, minerals, l-lysine- an amino acid.

The product comes with a 45-day money back guarantee.

Your skin needs an adjustment period to any product you try. To see most benefit you will need to give the product time to work. Most of all you should not mix brands. The products in each brand are formulated to work together to give you best results. By mixing brands (i.e.: different moisturizer, different toner….) you can diminish the effectiveness of each product.

To find ARBONNE products visit: http://tryitandloveit.myarbonne.com

Here are a few other good things for your skin:

Diet affects everything in our bodies. It plays a vital role in how you look, feel and of course how you age.

Eating right to keep your skin soft, glowing and strong at any age:

·Orange/red fruits and vegetables: can include tomatoes, squash and carrots- these are packed with beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant that is essential for healthy skin, scalp and mucous membranes.

·Shellfish and fish: try salmon, crab, shrimp and lobster- contain astaxanthin, an extremely potent antioxidant that protects your skin from the damaging environment, helps prevent age spots and wrinkling.

·Nuts and seeds- these are rich in vitamin E which helps protect the skin from sun damage

·Citrus fruits- such as oranges, grapefruits, are high in Vitamin C. It is essential to collagen production, and it is the collagen that gives connective tissue strength and resilience.

·Unrefined whole grain- these could be wheat, barley, oats and rye- all contain silica, a mineral that helps to repair damaged skin, hair and nails. Silica helps to strengthen collagen and elastin.

    Anti-Aging Super- Foods:

Top pick for this category include any deeply pigmented fruits and vegetables. This includes tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, berries and grapes, garlic, onions, green tea, soybean, cold-water fish and spices such as turmeric, cinnamon and cumin.

All of these are very rich in PHYTOCHEMICALS. These are the molecules that give the food the striking color, taste or smell. Their responsibility is to defend the plants against infection and environmental damage, and in humans they have shown to have anticancer activity. And, just like antioxidants, they help protect the body against harmful free radicals and vascular disease.

These foods also contain omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids help lower cholesterol, improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation and facilitate weight loss. Dark leafy greens, cold water fish and soybean are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids.

They are also considered “hot” foods – they help the body burn calories in the form of heat, just by eating them.

Three key elements to help your skin look its best:

·Avoid the damaging sun: with 90% of aging caused by environmental damage and sun exposure, ensure that you wear a product that contains a broad-spectrum sun block, and use it every day. Harmful sunrays penetrate clouds…so sun block is needed on cloudy days as well. Arbonne uses the latest in sunscreen technology in their day creams to ensure that you are protected from both the UVB and UVA rays.

·Practice good skin care: Using skin care products incorrectly can cause problems later in life. Learn how to remove make-up, and apply sunscreen to let skin breath. Follow up with exfoliation to encourage skin cell turnover, and finish with a light moisturizer to protect the skin’s water barrier.

·Don’t mix brands: With hundreds of skin care products launched each year, it’s no wonder that many of us try the latest products…however that can lead to skin irritation and the development of sensitive skin. Skin care products need time to work, and as your body becomes accustomed to the formulas …you will see benefit. Each brand develops products to work together for best results. Pick a brand and stick with it.

Best acne treatment for adult female, help?

Hi im a 20 y/o girl and I have sufferd with acne from when i was in middle school. I have no inscurance so I cant afford a dermatolgest but I really would like to clear it up, Im embarsed to go to work or school or even out, so does anyone know what would work? thnx in advanceBest acne treatment for adult female, help?
I am 50 years old and suffered with acne into my thirties, until i finally took Accutane. It does require a prescription, and the medicine is not cheap, but believe me, i tried EVERYTHING for years. I changed my pillowcase at least nightly, completely changed my diet for 5 years (to no avail), used everything available, and nothing worked like the accutane. within a week, my skin felt normal and the acne was already disappearing. within two weeks, my makeup looked the same at 6PM as it did when i applied it that morning. It was a six month treatment, but since then my skin has been relatively perfect, and the scarring has disappeared! IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE THAT YOU NOT GET PREGNANT WHILE TAKING THIS, SO BLOOD TESTS ARE REQUIRED, ETC. I know you said you can't afford a dermatologist, etc., but there are lots of community care clinics that will see you for free and give you your medicine for free, and acne is a serious and important illness. start asking for help, and keep asking until you get it. don't give up! on the other hand, and just for the record, my daughter is 21 and has the same problem. she is trying to get pregnant so won't take accutane. although it's not nearly as effective as the accutane was for me, she swears by Proactiv, and it has definitely improved her condition to a large degree. i'm sorry you're having to experience this.... it's emotionally painful as well. remember you're not alone, and as long as you're honestly doing all you can to treat the condition, try to let it go and focus on something else as often as you can. Good luck.Best acne treatment for adult female, help?
Stop paying for all that junk you are wasting putting on your face and pay the dermatologist. It's only a matter of maybe 3 visits a year and they will get your acne under control with refillable meds and you will come out with a clear face and be happy again. My son had BAD acne on his face and back~~just teenage acne. He saw the Dermatologist 3 times and then our family doctor took over prescribing the same meds the costly dermatologist does. His acne is GONE.....100%26amp;% now and he is thrilled! His sister wasted lots of money on those TV and OTC meds and they did nothing.....she should have burned her $$$.
Keep your face as clean as possible.

Have you tried the stuff for children's scars? I think its called ';Maderma';.

I always used fluffy egg whites on my acne, sometimes I add citric acid.

Anyway apply the egg whites to a clean dry face let it dry.

Leave it on for about 30 minutes, rinse off with ice water, pat dry.

Apply a thin coat of glycerin to your face or any oil-free cream to your face. Leave the cream on for 15 to 30 minutes, then tissue it off.

You might have to do this twice a day for awhile, but I would check out the ';Maderma'; cream.
I can know how you feel. Did you try using St. Ives products at least? i have sensitive skin as well and i use their scrubs and such and they work sooo incredibly awsome! They made my face soft as a babies skin, my acne scarrs are disappearing everybody! Also my acne are going down too. I hope you find something that will work for you!

(I have this product called Cleocin-T and it works sooo great on acne especially sensitive skin too. Give it a try, because i used to have very bad acne)
My son had bad acne and tried the same things you have tried...but he ended up on Accutane. Maybe you could see a dermatologist and get this; if you really can't afford it, I am not sure what to advise. Do you qualify for medical assistance? Might be worth checking into.
Contact a Mary Kay consultant (if you don't know one, go to the marykay.com web page and use the locator). She will come to your home and show you what is available. There are several products for acne as well as products to reduce oily skin and a wonderful microdermabrasion kit that can help to reduce the scars.
Proactive seems to be the rage. In the mall close to where I live they even have a vending machine. Also, when I began getting some adult acne, the dr prescribed me Hydrocortisone 2 %, and gave me a prescription (cheap) for minicycline. Also the the birth control yazmine states it helps with acne. Good Luck
Try this product called acnezine. This is actually a pill that you will have to take rather than a cream or facial wash. This might be what you are looking for. Follow the link below for more information.
These home remedies will gives you good results but if you still not get good results from these remedies then you should consult your doctor.

What is the major cause of cystic acne in adults and how can it be curtailed?

i think stress and anger cause itWhat is the major cause of cystic acne in adults and how can it be curtailed?
I`m not too sure what causes it, but I`m thirteen and I have a cyst right next to my nose... :( lol. My one has to be cut out, I`ve had it all year, but that`s just me. I don`t know if yours go away by themselves, but mine certainly didn`t.

I`m not sure if you can stop them coming though. I don`t have a clue how mine got here. Talk to your GP and see what he thinks.

As a teenager I didn't have acne, however as an adult I breakout on my chin from stress occiasonally.?

I use excellent skin care products and know that these are not causing the pimples. Still, should I switch products? What about Proactiv? The breakouts aren't bad, but considering I have never dealt with it I am unsure what to do.As a teenager I didn't have acne, however as an adult I breakout on my chin from stress occiasonally.?
please dont even bother with pro active! Breakouts on the chin, sides of the mouth %26amp; jawline are almost always caused by hormones. No skin care will stop these coming up as it is an internal cause. If you are on the contraceptive pill ask your dr. to change your pill to something that will also help balance out hormones for your skin. Here in australia 'dianne' is the one which usually helps the most.

Drinking plenty of water, having soy in your diet and exercising will also help. If the blemishes tend to spread it just means you are touching them and creating bacterial infections on the skin, so you need to not touch and some topical ';spot treatments'; may help. Something with a very mild benzoyl peroxide or zinc will help to kill bacteria and heal the area quicker, but only use on the spot. Hope that helpsAs a teenager I didn't have acne, however as an adult I breakout on my chin from stress occiasonally.?
Proactiv has always worked for me
they would be hormonal. go and see a GP. or i suggest a natropath. pimples on the body are all related to different things. females get them around their mouth when stressed and men get them on their cheeks and jaw bone. all different places. you might even wanna try researching it.
Before you switch products, try these tips and see if your chin clears up. First of all, keep your phones clean. The bacteria on them can often cause breakouts on your chin. You can use a disinfecting wipe and it works perfectly. Also, when you brush your teeth, try not to let the toothpaste get out of your mouth and onto your chin. The ingredients can cause acne on your chin.

If after trying these tips your chin breakouts haven't disappeared or gotten better, try an alcohol free toner that absorbs oil like Neutrogena Clear Pore Oil-Eliminating Astringent before you put on make up and also at night before bed.
breakouts on the chin are hormonal..... i suggest trying a birth control like ortho tri cyclin that will help the hormonal balance, and then spot treat with a good product like bioelement's brat out control..
